Salivating Shortbread Cookies

1 c. unsalted butter at room temp
1/3 c. Baker's sugar (ultra fine)
2 T. light brown sugar
2 t. water
2 t. vanilla extract
1 1/3 c. sifted unbleached flour
1/3 c. cornstarch
1/4 t. salt

Optional: Lime zest, almond flavoring, pecans, anise

Combine butter and both sugars - cream until smooth and pale yellow.
Stir in water and vanilla. Then add flour, cornstarch, and salt - mix until dough is thick and creamy.
Wrap dough in waxed paper, chill 3-4 hrs.
Preheat oven to 300F and remove dough from fridge and allow to soften slightly.
Shape dough in very small balls. Roll in sugar and press down slightly. Cook 25 mins. Cool. EAT!
